Bavaria (June 22-June 24th)

We stopped at a reststop off the autobahn and I had to take a picture of the cue you had to pay to go through and use the restrooms...it was weird. Then if you used these you were given a coupon for the convienance store for .5 euros off your purchase.....just weird! We got a bathroom break, some gummy bears and a piece of bread....discounted of course....WEIRD! Finanally a picture I am in...I am always taking them....Meg with her white wine spritzer....it was supposed to have lemonade in it.....but I could only taste the delicious wine!

This is a view from the hotel room window....there was a pool, but it was closed due to it being in the 50's and raining, so that was a bit of a bummer.

Dave pretending to take a drink from the random, suspicious roadside fountain... this picture is a little weird....but I had to include the man who makes all of this possible!

This picture take from inside our hotel room, was just beautiful. I woke up in the morning and opened the window and this is what I saw...it was a romantic scene

Um....I had to throw this one in. Dave at the Vilsek Shoppette with the largest bottle of Jack I have ever seen. We did not purchase this bottle, even though Dave's eyes look like we did! We bought water, cheezits, and granola bars!

Well this is where we stayed in Bavaria. There was a really cool fountain on the edge of the forest, right next to the road. Random, but of course Dave and I pulled over and took a couple pics. The countryside was so beautiful and all the little villages we passed on our way was like going back in time....this is a lush, green, gorgeous place to visit.

The hotel had a large soccer field right next to the actual building, which was sort of interesting. I mean we were really in the middle of no where.

IKEA Day!!-June 20th

Dave and I made the short journey to Mannheim to go to IKEA. I told Dave weeks ago when we decided to make a trip there that he should be prepared for about 4 hours of walking around....and yes folks we did in fact spend about 3.5 hours walking the store and getting food! We bought some fun stuff, a cutting board set, 6 orange placments, 4 schnapps glasses, a patio lounge chair and some wine glasses to make up for the one I broke a couple of days ago!

I had swedish meat balls for lunch....get it...this is a swedish company! hehe! Can you even see the delicious meatballs? They were covered in french fries!

We met Jon, Sabrina and their friend Brett for dinner for some Weiner schnizel (which came with fries again!)! It was my first time and I don't really have an opinion still!

Our House

Alrighty to this is the first floor. Dave put together this closet we bought on ramsteinyardsales.com yesterday evening, with a little help from me. So this is our entry way. There is also a bathroom located in this area as well. We are in a townhouse, and are the third one from the left, #35. Our garage is all the way on the left in the picture. We are very lucky to have a big backyard to European standards. Dave gets out there and mows it with the plug in mower...it is a site to be seen!

This is our little kitchen.

Here are pics from the second floor. I wanted to show you all the second smallest washing machine I have ever encountered. The one is Australia was even smaller, so I am counting my blessings. The washer and dryer are located on opposite sides of the second floor bathroom. Picture #2 is the second floor bathroom. There is a shower to the left and a bath tub on the right. Picture #3, this is the only real closet in the house. I can't imagine putting one real closet in a four bedroom, 3 bath house, but we do have portable closets, in the bedroom and the front hall. Picture #4-crazy picture of our stairs just to freak you out and make you think a little. Picture #5 are the stairs leading from the first floor to the second floor. There is also an office and the master bedroom on this floor.

In these photos you will see the stairs leading to the third floor with the guest room (empty room), storage room, and guest bath. Please come and visit us, we would love to have someone to get things ready for! The guest room has been assigned as my project, I can do whatever I want! I want to make it into a retreat space!

Mosel Valley Weekend Trip #1

The Mosel Valley....unbelieveably beautiful

Jon and Sabrina

Meg and Sabrina (prepared with unbrellas)

We went on a overnight to the Mosel Valley-reisling wine country.....the pictures speak for themselves. We were fortunate enough to be invited by our friends Jon and Sabrina. Jon and Dave work together and Jon just so happens to have a cool wife, which I have become friends with very quickly. It was Sabrina's birthday weekend and so the four of us headed out into the rain and fog for a little adventure. We ended up doing two wine tastings and Dave bought more than a few bottles of amazing wine. The tasting experience was like none other I have ever had.

First Couple of Days....

This is my favorite picture of the castle, amazing views!
This is the view from a watch tower we hiked up to. This is the castle, Burg Nanstein!

Dave and Meg out for our first dinner out in downtown Kaiserslautern. It was a french cafe!
